Our speaker for November will be Jason Baker, P.E. Mr. Baker . is the Director/Assistant Chief Engineer of TDOT in Region 4, which is located in Jackson. It is his responsibility to direct departmental operations throughout the 21-county region in West Tennessee. Major areas of operational responsibilities are highway maintenance and repair, construction engineering, safety, traffic and highway marking, bridge inspection and repair, the state aid program and administration, materials and tests, environmental planning, and office administration, including personnel matters. He is also responsible for project development management by ensuring timely and fiscal delivery of transportation projects. Other major responsibilities include the Intelligent Transportation Systems and Incident Response.
He is a licensed engineer, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Tech University and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from UT-Knoxville. Since joining the Department in 1989, Jason has served with the Design Division, as the Regional Environmental Coordinator and as a Project Manager. He was appointed as the Regional Director of Operations in 2013 and then as the Director/Assistant Chief Engineer in 2015.
